Do you have a burning question about something that you just can’t find the answer to? Are you interested in research, community engagement and/or report writing? Then the BYC Researchers team might be for you!
The BYS Researchers team meets monthly to design, undertake and report on qualitative research on issues important to young people in Brimbank. You’ll do some other work outside the meetings like undertaking interviews, transcribing data and writing reports.
Previously, Young Researchers working with BYS have examined:
- The impact of bullying on students in a Brimbank secondary school
- The importance of Youth Voice
- The impact of discrimination on students and teachers in a Brimbank secondary school
- Understanding the term ‘harmony’
You will also have the opportunity to work alongside an academic researcher from Swinburne University to develop the key skills you need to undertake thorough, ethical and robust research. Participation in this group is on a voluntary basis but paid opportunities are likely to come up throughout the year.
We meet once a month on a Thursday at Brimbank Civic and Community Centre, 301 Hampshire Road, Sunshine, from 5-7pm. Check out the calendar to find our next meeting.
BYS also run a Young Researchers in Schools program. If you or your school are interested in this program, you can find more about it here.
